Guardianship

Guardianship is a court proceeding that allows a family member to petition the probate court to become the court-appointed guardian over a child or a disabled adult in order to take care of their affairs. Guardianship over the person allows for decision making for healthcare and living arrangements, while guardianship over the estate allows the guardian to manage the financial affairs.

There are two types of guardianship: minor and adult, disabled. In both cases, we consider the unique interests of the guardian and the adult or minor, while helping you to determine the best course of action for your particular circumstance.
